The idea

A planter that becomes a lamp after dark. Not a dual-function product for its own sake — the geometry of the base and the translucency of rotomoulded polyethylene made it inevitable. In daylight the hourglass totem is a solid, architectural planter. When the light comes on, the same form is a floor lamp. The material does both jobs — no mechanism, no separate component, no added complexity.

One form, a family

The idea scales. A single hourglass geometry runs from tabletop pieces to a tree-surround table-planter, in translucent finishes that glow and solid ones that hold their colour. All of it is drawn for rotomoulding — the same process behind the most interesting outdoor furniture being made right now, and the reason the day-and-night trick costs nothing extra to produce.

Where it stands

The concept is drawn for production and realisable after the technical detailing any manufacturer would expect — ballast for the waisted tables, a stiffened top, and a clean split between the translucent pieces that glow and the solid finishes that don't. Twenty years between the factory floor and the brief is what makes those the right questions to ask early. The concept is complete, documented, and available for licensing.

Pots-n-Lamps is one of several developed concepts I hold ready for the right manufacturer. Each is a solved idea — documented, production-minded, waiting for a production partner. Full concept dossiers are shared on request, not published here.

product design — on demand

Or bring a brief instead of a concept. I develop products end to end, concept to production, for manufacturers who need something built to their own direction.
